Dr. Dre has a new album, his first in 16 years, coming out tomorrow (Aug. 7), and he’s been using his partnership with Apple Music and Beats 1 to reveal more details leading up to the album’s release. Compton: A Soundtrack (inspired by the upcoming N.W.A biopic) is set to premiere exclusively on Beats 1 radio tonight (Aug. 6), and Dre went on Zane Lowe’s show earlier today to drop an important piece of news, Rolling Stone reports.
Dre told Lowe he will be donating all proceeds he earns from the album to help fund a new performing arts and entertainment facility for the kids of Compton. The legendary producer said he’s been working with Compton mayor Aja Brown to do “something special for Compton.”
Dre’s new album, a tribute to his hometown, will feature Snoop Dogg, Eminem,Kendrick Lamar, The Game, Ice Cube, and many other collaborators, past and present.
