Yung Joc has been angling to make a comeback for a while now, but he may have just suffered a major setback. TMZreports that the rapper was arrested yesterday (April 30) in Atlanta after he was pulled over for speeding and was found to have a suspended license. But it doesn’t end there–when it was discovered that Joc’s license was suspended, the police also learned that there was a warrant out for the rapper’s arrest. At press time, it is still unclear what the warrant is for; Joc is still in custody.
The rapper, real name Jasiel Robinson, burst onto the scene in early 2006 with “It’s Goin’ Down,” which became a massive hit first in hist native Atlanta and, later, nationally. His debut, New Joc City, debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200, topping the charts for both Hip-Hop/R&B and Rap. He had a followup hit the next year with “Coffee Shop,” which featured then-budding star Gorilla Zoe. That song appeared on his sophomore album, Hustlenomics, which fared identically on the charts. More recently, Joc has appeared on the hit VH1 reality show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, earning his role when he began dating singer Karlie Redd. In 2011, hard drives containing sessions files for his third album were stolen.
