Leading the way was her father Kazembe, who dressed appropriately for the neighborhood stroll in sweats and sneakers.
Zendaya’s bright outing occurred the day after she graciously accepted Rancic’s public apology in an eloquent Instagram post. The E! News host first incited outrage earlier this week after she commented on a photo of Zendaya at the Oscars, saying she probably “smells like patchouli oil and weed.” (Us Weekly exclusively revealed that this take was done multiple times, and Kelly Osbourne cautioned Rancic against making the remarks.)
The Shake It Up alum then called out Rancic for her insensitive commentary via social media, which warranted applause from stars like Solange, Kerry Washington, and Viola Davis. “To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or ‘weed’ is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive,” Zendaya wrote at the time.
Rancic later issued an apology on E! News on Tuesday for her remarks, which Zendaya accepted in yet another lengthy and thoughtful Instagram post.
“Body shaming and other hurtful tactics will never get the job done,” she wrote. “Giuliana, I appreciate your apology and I’m glad it was a learning experience for you and for the network.”
